Book of Joy

Online Book Study

Tuesdays 7pm – 8:15 pm, starting April 14th

Join us for an online study group of the Book of Joy, a collaborative book by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. The text is a sweet, joyful and poignant dialogue of finding purpose and happiness in life, centralized around the question:

“How do we find joy in the face of life’s inevitable suffering?”

The dialogue includes discussions on the “Obstacles to Joy”, such as fear, stress, anger and grief, and then moves to the “Nature of Joy” and “Pillars of Joy” and the cultivation of humor, compassion, forgiveness and gratitude.

Also from the book:

“Nobel Peace Prize Laureates His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu have survived more than fifty years of exile and the soul-crushing violence of oppression. Despite their hardships – or, as they would say, because of them – they are two of the most joyful people on the planet.”

The live online book study will be held remotely through the Zoom app and lead by FPMT teacher Justin Jenkins, former Spiritual Program Coordinator of Lama Yeshe House in Denver who recently moved to Laguna Beach.

Sessions will include guided meditation, and structured discussion of the text. Open to all.

RSVP to get the link to join the sessions here.

The book can be purchased online in print or as an ebook.
